Local Student Attends The University Of Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa - [Student's name] of [hometown, Iowa] has started classes as a first-year student at the University of Iowa. [Student's last name] is one of 4,083 first-year students, some 2,525 of whom are from Iowa.

U.S. News & World Report recently ranked the University of Iowa No. 19 among public national universities, higher than last year, and placing the university among the top 12 percent of some 162 public national universities. In addition, two national rankings published recently cite the University of Iowa as being "a great educational value," and calling Iowa City one of the "coolest places to work, play, study, party, and live." Kaplan Publishing's "The Unofficial, Unbiased Guide to the 328 Most Interesting Colleges, 2004" includes the UI among "Schools that offer the best value for your tuition dollar," and Outside Magazine's September 2003 issue ranks the UI 10th on its list of the Top 40 "Schools where you can hit the books AND the back country.
