Disability Awareness Group To Hold Information Fair, Award Ceremony

The University of Iowa Council on Disability Awareness (CDA) will hold a "Circle of Support" Information Fair and its 7th Annual Achievement Awards ceremony Thursday, Oct. 23 in the Iowa Memorial Union's Richey Ballroom.

The Information Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and the awards ceremony will be at 1:15 p.m. All events are free and open to the public.

The Information Fair will feature employers and representatives from area businesses, agencies and the university who can discuss what services and resources they provide for people with disabilities or health conditions that affect their ability to learn or work.

The CDA established the Achievement Award Program in 1997 to acknowledge the efforts and successes of individuals and organizations that facilitate the integration and inclusion of people with disabilities in campus life or the community at large. The first award was given to Hancher Auditorium.

The event is sponsored by the CDA and the UI Office of the Provost and Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity (formerly the Office of Affirmative Action).

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa sponsored events. If you, or someone you know, require an accommodation to participate in this event, contact the CDA in advance via email at, by phone at 319-335-2663, or TTY at 319-335-3495.
