UI Engineering Lecture On Reliability Scheduled Nov. 6
Elsayed A. Elsayed, professor and director of the NSF/Industry University Cooperative Research on Quality and Reliability Engineering, Rutgers University, will deliver a Caterpillar Colloquium Series seminar on "Reliability Estimation Based on Accelerated Life Testing" at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6 in the Gary and Carol Rastrelli Long Classroom, 3505 Seamans Center for the Engineering Arts and Sciences.
The seminar, also an industrial engineering graduate seminar talk, is free and open to the public.
Elsayed’s research interests, which lie in the areas of quality and reliability engineering and production planning and control, have addressed such questions as a Federal Aviation Administration-funded study of the effect of decreasing current vertical separation standards for aircraft flying in North Atlantic Airspace. An award-winning author for two texts in his field of expertise, he has been a consultant for AT&T Bell Laboratories, Ingersoll-Rand, Johnson & Johnson, Personal Products, AT&T Communications, Ethicon and other companies. He is the editor-in-chief of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) Transactions and the editor of the IIE Transactions on Quality and Reliability Engineering.
The Caterpillar Colloquium Series is made possible by grants awarded to the UI College of Engineering through the UI Foundation by the Caterpillar Foundation of Peoria, Ill. The grants comprise the Caterpillar Excellence Fund, which aids student, faculty and curriculum development in the College of Engineering.
