Rockwell Collins CEO Speaks Oct. 17 At Tippie College Of Business

Clay Jones, chairman and CEO of Rockwell Collins, will speak Oct. 17 at the Tippie College of Business about the skills required to lead an organization in today's business environment.

The speech is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. in Room S401 PBB, the Tenneco Colloquium of the John Pappajohn Business Building. It is the first presentation in the Tippie Leadership Association's Speaker Series.

Jones was appointed to his current position at Rockwell Collins in June 2002 after serving in several top management positions at the company. Rockwell Collins, based in Cedar Rapids, is a global company that provides aviation electronics for the world's aircraft manufacturers and more than 400 airline customers, as well as a major share of the world's military forces.

A native of Nashville, Tenn., Jones joined Rockwell International in 1979 after serving in the U.S. Air Force as a fighter pilot. Jones holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Tennessee and an MBA from George Washington University.

The Tippie Leadership Association was started to foster the development of leadership skills among graduate business students while creating a culture of leadership at in the Tippie School of Management.

"This speaker series brings business leaders to campus so that students can hear about the experiences that helped them to develop their leadership skills," said Association president and founder Marc Dorau. "It is also a great way for students to understand what it takes to be an influential leader in the business community."

As part of its Speaker Series, the Association will also be hosting Dick Jacobson, founder and chairman of Jacobson Companies, on Oct. 24, as well as Chris Davis, CEO of McLeod USA, on Nov 14.
