UI Hospitals And Clinics Establishes Nurse Staffing Advisory Council
University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics leaders today announced an agreement to establish a council that will address issues related to nurse staffing.
The Nurse Staffing Advisory Council will meet at regular intervals. The council members will review and discuss the staffing variance and staffing effectiveness data prepared by each nursing unit. The council will provide recommendations for safe and effective patient care and staff satisfaction.
Linda Q. Everett, Ph.D., R.N., associate director and chief nursing officer at UI Hospitals and Clinics, will chair the Nurse Staffing Advisory Council. The council will also address retention and recruitment issues as important components of maintaining appropriate staffing and high quality patient care.
UI Hospitals and Clinics leaders worked collaboratively with Service Employee International Union (SEIU) Local 199 to establish the council. UI Hospitals and Clinics and SEIU will each appoint five members to the council.
