Austrian Consul General To Discuss EU Foreign Policy At College of Law
Elisabeth Kehrer, consul general of the Republic of Austria in Chicago, will discuss "The Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union" at the UI College of Law on Friday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. in Room 225.
Admission is free and open to the public.
Kehrer obtained her Doctorate of Law from the University of Vienna and holds a post-graduate degree in comparative constitutional law from the Université Paris II. From 1983 to 1986, while serving as law clerk at the Austrian Constitutional Court, she taught as a lecturer at Vienna University. In 1988 she took up a position at the Austrian Foreign Ministry and worked as a counselor to the permanent representation of Austria to the United Nations in New York City, and as the deputy head of mission of the Austrian Embassy in Dublin, Ireland. From 1997 to 2001 she was the head of the coordination unit for EU Common Foreign and Security Policy, Austrian Foreign Ministry, Vienna.
She has been consul general in Chicago since May 2001.
