UI Students To Discuss Role Of NGOs At Nov. 10 International Mondays
University of Iowa students Matthew Steele and Yasir Ahmed will speak on the important role of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) in today's international climate at the next International Mondays lecture on Monday, Nov. 10, from noon to 1 p.m. in the International Center Lounge. Their talk is entitled, "NGOX: Building Connections for a Super-national Approach to Globalization," and is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
In their speech, Steele and Ahmed will describe the steps that NGOs are taking to create relationships between skilled individuals and the organizations that need them. The International Exchange for Nongovernmental Organizations (NGOX) is a non-profit service organization working to promote awareness of global issues and increase effectiveness in NGOs around the world by facilitating international exchanges of culture and professional wisdom.

The International Mondays series is sponsored by UI International Programs and the Stanley-UI Foundation Support Organization and presents discussions with individuals who have had international experiences. The lectures are usually from noon to 1 p.m. every Monday in the International Center Lounge or other locations on campus throughout the academic year with the exception of holidays and breaks.
UI International Programs consists of a number of offices, centers, degree programs, academic programs, research projects and services. Organized under the associate provost for academic programs and dean of international programs, these units serve to further internationalize the campus and the community and promote global scholarship, research and teaching.
