Women's Center Offers New Groups For Summer
The Women's Resource & Action Center at the University of Iowa is offering several support and discussion groups this summer.
"Feminists in the Dark" Movie and Discussion Group will meet on Tuesdays, June 3 through July 15, beginning at 7 p.m., to view films from a variety of genres and engage in informal discussion. This "drop-in" group does not require pre-registration to attend.
"Dealing with Depression" Support Group will meet on Mondays from 5 to 7 p.m., June 9 through July 14. This peer support group is designed to provide an opportunity for participants to connect with peers and explore how depression affects their everyday lives. Pre-registration is required.
"Reach for the Stars" Discussion Group will meet on Mondays from 6 to 8 p.m., June 9 through July 14. This motivational discussion group is designed to explore what gives meaning to participants' lives, to define goals and to develop strategies for overcoming barriers. Pre-registration is required.
"Exploring Individuality through Art" will meet on Wednesdays from 3 to 5 p.m., June 18 through July 23. This group is designed to provide a fun, safe place for participants to share their own artistic work and will focus on expressing one's creative voice. Pre-registration is required.
