UI Field House Pool Reopens
The Field House Pool on the University of Iowa Campus re-opened for normal operation at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, May 7. All academic classes, club use, and intercollegiate teams can plan on assuming normal hours.
University of Iowa administrators closed the Field House swimming pool April 28 because acoustical tiles from the ceiling were falling into the pool. All acoustical tiles have been removed and the pool has been thoroughly cleaned
Harry Ostrander, UI director of recreational services, says speedy work by the contractor and by UI Facilities Services and water plant staff "helped get the pool up and running again quickly."
Each day about 100 recreational swimmers and 50 members of the men's and women's intercollegiate teams use the pool, Ostrander says, along with master swimmers, students in academic classes, and club members in water polo, synchronized swimming, scuba, and kayaking.
