Dentistry Names Assistant Dean For Finance And Facilities
The University of Iowa College of Dentistry has appointed Scott Arneson assistant dean for finance and facilities, effective July 1. Arneson, currently director of financial analysis for the UI Carver College of Medicine, succeeds Joe Brennan, who is retiring from his full-time post as associate dean.
"We are very pleased to welcome Scott Arneson to the College of Dentistry," said David Johnsen, D.D.S., dean of the college. "He brings outstanding perspective on finance, health care and higher education."
Johnsen also thanked Brennan, who will continue to assist with accreditation and other special projects on a part-time basis. "His 30 years of service to our college have been remarkable, and we will miss his expertise, insight, forthrightness, kindness and caring," Johnsen said.
Originally from Joice, Iowa, Arneson earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and an M.B.A. from the UI. He became a senior accountant with the UI Business Office in 1985, then joined the UI Carver College of Medicine in 1987 as an administrative associate. He was appointed to his present post, which entails directing the college's budget and assisting with long-range planning, in 1994. Arneson also serves as an adjunct instructor for the UI Tippie College of Business.
"I am eager to pursue this new opportunity and look forward to working with the exceptional faculty and staff at the College of Dentistry," he said.
As assistant dean for finance and facilities, Arneson will direct business and financial operations at the College of Dentistry while assisting the dean and administrative staff in developing the college's goals and addressing issues that affect its mission. The college's budget for fiscal year 2003 is $36 million.
