UI Library's Mason To Discuss Iowa Women's Clubs
Karen Mason, curator of the Iowa Women's Archives in the University of Iowa Libraries, will speak about women's clubs in Iowa history during a discussion at the Coralville Public Library on Friday, March 7.
"Friendly Neighbors and Willing Workers: A Sampler of Iowa Women's Clubs" begins at noon. Admission is free and open to the public.
The Iowa Women's Archives has papers and historical items from many rural township clubs, study clubs, sewing circles, and activist organizations. A small traveling exhibit featuring women in Iowa history will be on display. Mason will also share stories and read from collections in the archives during her talk, which is part of the series "Collecting Our Past," sponsored by the Johnson County Historical Society.
The Coralville Public Library is located at 1401 5th Street in Coralville, Iowa.
