Mother's Milk Bank of Iowa to hold fundraiser Feb. 8

Mother's Milk Bank of Iowa is hosting a shower to celebrate the birth of the program. The event is from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at the New Pioneer Co-op in Coralville. Refreshments will be served, and the public is welcome to attend.

Mother's Milk Bank of Iowa, located at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, was created in August 2002. It serves hospitalized infants at Children's Hospital of Iowa Special Care Nurseries and, eventually, babies across the state.

The American Academy of Pediatrics has long recognized human milk as the preferred nutrition for all infants, especially premature and sick infants. Mother's Milk Bank of Iowa collects, pasteurizes, stores and distributes human breast milk for the tiniest of premature babies.

Monetary contributions can be made in care of Mother's Milk Bank of Iowa through the UI Foundation. For more information, please call (319) 356-3636 or visit online at
