University of Iowa radio station KSUI, 91.7 FM (101.7 FM in Dubuque), will offer music by Robert Schumann performed by UI faculty artists as part of KSUI’s “Know the Score LIVE!” broadcast from the UI Museum of Art 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24.

The program, part of the weekly arts and humanities series hosted by Joan Kjaer on KSUI, will take place before a live audience in the Lasansky Room and will be broadcast over KSUI at that time as well as 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29.

The first half of the program will focus on Czech music. Flutist Jan Bowland and guitarist John Dowdall from Red Cedar Chamber Music will be joined by composer Jerry Owen, vocalist Margie Marrs, violist Suzanne Wagor, and Gail Naughton, president of the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library in Cedar Rapids.

During the second hour, violinist Annette-Barbara Vogel and pianist Uriel Tsachor from the UI School of Music will play and discuss music by Robert Schumann. Vogel will also play Pablo de Sarasate’s “Zigeunerweisen” (Gypsy style) with pianist Hikari Nakamura.

M.C. Ginsberg Objects of Art, Inc. of Iowa City is the corporate sponsor of “Know the Score” broadcasts at the UI Museum of Art.

The UI Museum of Art, located on North Riverside Drive in Iowa City, is open noon to 10 p.m. Fridays. Admission is free to the museum and to the “Know the Score LIVE!” broadcast. Public metered parking is available in UI parking lots west and north of the museum.
