EDITORS NOTE: Please note the following corrections and changes to the Monday, Dec. 15 release on the University of Iowa fall commencement exercises, which will be held Friday and Saturday, Dec. 19 and 20. Tickets are not required for the Henry B. Tippie College of Business exercises at 9 a.m. on Saturday, and President David J. Skorton will be unable to confer degrees for the Graduate College and for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
UI Fall Commencement Exercises Set For Dec. 19-20 (Corrected Version)
The University of Iowa will confer more than 1,200 degrees at fall commencement exercises to be held Friday and Saturday, Dec. 19 and 20, following the end of the fall academic session.
Ceremonies will be held for the Graduate College, the Henry B. Tippie College of Business, the College of Engineering, the College of Law and the Colleges of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Education, Medicine and Nursing. There are no reserved seats for any of the ceremonies and tickets are not required for admission. Doors will be open one hour before each ceremony. In the interest of safety, guests will not be allowed to take in large bags or backpacks. Also, security officials reserve the right to inspect purses and camera bags.
The schedule of ceremonies is:
Graduate College: Friday, Dec. 19, 7:30 p.m., at Hancher Auditorium. Number of degree candidates: 290.
Henry B. Tippie College of Business: Saturday, Dec. 20, 9 a.m., at Hancher Auditorium. Number of degree candidates: 215. Degrees will be conferred by Bill Decker, interim vice president for research.
Colleges of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Education, Medicine and Nursing:
College of Engineering: Saturday, Dec. 20, noon, Clapp Recital Hall. Number of degree candidates: 55. Degrees will be conferred by Phillip Jones, vice president for student services and dean of students.
College of Law: Saturday, Dec. 20, 10:30 a.m., Boyd Law Building, Levitt Auditorium. Number of degree candidates: 27. Degrees will be conferred by Pat Cain, interim provost. Speaker will be John Allen, clinical professor of law.
Graduates and guests with physical disabilities who need special accommodations to attend the ceremony are encouraged to make arrangements in advance by calling 319- 335-0296.
