Tippie MBA Program Continues To Expand

This year, more than 1,000 students will be enrolled in one of the Tippie MBA programs at the University of Iowa. In the past two years the Tippie MBA program has expanded into Des Moines, while on the other side of the world the program is being offered in Hong Kong and, in the near future, China.

The Tippie School of Management offers several different versions of its MBA program designed to fit the needs of today's business professionals. These students have options that range from the Full-time Program, which is offered on campus, to the Evening Program, which is offered in Cedar Rapids, Des Moines/Newton and the Quad Cities. In addition, several versions of the Executive Program provide lock-step, concentrated experiences that allow seasoned
working professionals to complete an MBA program in two years. Classes begin Aug. 25.

This fall, the Full-time MBA Program has attracted 87 students from 10 countries and 10 states within the U.S. The average Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is 637 while the average Grade Point Average (GPA) is 3.3. A typical student has 4.4 years of work experience. As of this fall, 73 students will be entering the second year of the Full-time Program, and they are expected to graduate in spring 2004.

The Evening MBA Program has 700 students enrolled in courses this fall; 135 of them are new to the program. These new students have an average of seven years of professional work experience. Evening MBA students typically work full-time and complete the program in about three years.

Students in the traditional Executive MBA Program are typically sponsored by their employers and attend all-day classes on alternating Fridays and Saturdays. This fall, 38 students will start the two-year Executive MBA Program in Iowa City, while 43 students are enrolled in the second year of the on campus program. In
addition, 21 students are enrolled in the second year of the Executive MBA Program in Des Moines.

For the second time, the UI Tippie School of Management will partner with Iowa State University's College of Engineering to offer the Executive Engineer Dual Master's Degree Program. Participants in this class earn both an MBA from The University of Iowa and a Masters in Engineering in Systems Engineering (MESE) from Iowa State University. Nineteen students have just begun this unique program.

The Executive MBA Program is expanding around the world. While two classes are running in Iowa, the second year of the Hong Kong MBA Program resumes with an enrollment of 21 students. A new class of approximately 25-30 students will begin the program in Hong Kong later in September. Recruiting efforts are under way for an offering of the Executive MBA Program in China with a target start date of
January 2004.

The Tippie MBA Program consistently ranks among the top programs in the world. Whether referring to its U.S. News and World Report ranking of 29th among U.S. programs or its Forbes ranking as fifth in return on investment, the Tippie MBA provides a great education at a great value.
