Iowans Win Grand Prizes In UI State Fair Drawing
Four lucky Iowans will receive their prizes this week as winners of the Grand prizes from the daily drawing at the University of Iowa's State Fair booth Aug. 7-17.
Doyle Green of Adel won the top prize, two tickets to the Iowa home football games against Penn State (Oct. 25), Illinois (Nov. 1) and Minnesota (Nov. 15). This prize was donated by the University of Iowa Alumni Association.
Mike Compton of Jefferson won a football autographed by Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz. Fred Kesten of Rockwell City won a basketball autographed by men's basketball head coach Steve Alford. Phyllis Eaves of Runnells won a basketball autographed by women's basketball head coach Lisa Bluder. These prizes were donated by the IMU Bookstore/Hawk Shop.
Randy Geiger of Keystone won two tickets to a performance of Drummers of West Africa at Hancher Auditorium and a one-night stay at a suite in the Iowa House hotel in the Iowa Memorial Union on campus. This prize package was donated by Hancher Auditorium and the Iowa House hotel.
Throughout the course of the fair thousands of visitors to the UI booth had the chance to meet some of the top athletes from Hawkeye history, participate in health screenings and learn about the many ways that "Iowa: Your University" serves students, the state and the world.
