MEDIA ADVISORY: Grassley To Visit Carver College Of Medicine Aug. 19
Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) will visit officials and students from the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine on Tuesday, Aug. 19.
Beginning at 11 a.m., Grassley will tour the Medical Education and Biomedical Research Facility (MERF), accompanied by Jean Robillard, M.D., dean of the UI Carver College of Medicine, and other collegiate and University officials. The tour will include a "Student Community" on the first floor of MERF, as well as a clinical suite where students learn patient-care skills.
Grassley also will visit the laboratory of Edwin Stone, M.D., Ph.D., UI professor of ophthalmology and visual sciences, and one of four Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) investigators at the UI. The group will then walk next door to the Eckstein Medical Research Building (EMRB) to visit the laboratory of Kevin Campbell, Ph.D., UI professor and interim head of physiology and biophysics, and an HHMI investigator.
Grassley and Robillard will offer remarks and take questions from news media beginning at approximately 11:45 a.m. in the Seebohm Conference Room (room 283) in EMRB.
