Hancher Auditorium Box Office Re-opens Aug. 25

Tickets to most 2003-04 performing-arts events at the University of Iowa will be on sale in-person or by phone when the Hancher Auditorium box office re-opens on Aug. 25.

In addition to the international touring artists presented by the auditorium, the Hancher box office is the source for tickets to the Mainstage season of University Theatres, the dance department's annual Dance Gala, concerts by the University Symphony Orchestra, productions by the Martha-Ellen Tye Opera Theater, shows by the Old Gold Singers and the perennially popular Band Extravaganza presented by the School of Music.

Hancher offers volume-sale discounts -- discounts begin when any three Hancher-sponsored events are purchased simultaneously -- and the simultaneous purchase of six or more Hancher events qualifies for a 20 percent discount.

The Division of Performing Arts also offers discounted subscription packages.

UI students qualify for substantial discounts on most tickets sold through the Hancher box office.

Hancher Auditorium box office school-year business hours are 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays. From the local calling area, dial 319-335-1160. Long distance is toll-free, 1-800-HANCHER. Fax to 319-353-2284. People with special needs for access, seating and auxiliary services should dial 319-335-1158, which is equipped with TDD for people with hearing impairment who use that technology.

Tickets also may be ordered on-line 24 hours a day, seven days a week through Hancher's website:

Hancher box office orders may be charged to VISA, MasterCard or American Express. UI students may charge their purchases to their university bills, and UI faculty and staff may select the option of payroll deduction.
