Parking Ramp 1 Closed
Routine maintenance on University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Parking Ramp 1 Wednesday uncovered certain structural concerns that require further evaluation. The ramp will be closed until a thorough structural engineering review is scheduled and conducted.
Hospital administrators are working continuously with staff in the UI's Parking and Transportation office to accommodate the parking needs of patients, visitors, faculty, staff, students, and volunteers. Patients and visitors seeking to park in Ramp 1 will be redirected to Hospital Ramps 2, 3, and 4. Patients and visitors can continue to use valet parking, and additional patient parking needs will be accommodated as required.
Staff members who park in Lot 50 will be relocated to Ramp 3. Staff members who have handicapped permits in Ramp 1 will be relocated to Ramp 2. In addition, Parking and Transportation staff will be screening vehicles at all ramps to ensure that staff have appropriate parking placards.
The situation is being monitored daily and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
