UI Camerata Singers Present Free Concert April 17

The Camerata Singers from the University of Iowa School of Music will present a free concert at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 17 in Clapp Recital Hall on the UI campus.

One of the major choral ensembles of the UI School of Music, Camerata includes both university students and members of the local community. They perform under the direction of UI graduate assistant Marc Falk.

The program for the concert will be:
-- Missa brevis Sti Joannis de Deo ("Kleine Orgelmesse") (Short Mass of St.John of God, known as the "Little organ mass'"), an early work by Franz Joseph Haydn;
-- "Lieder und Romanzen" (Songs and romances), op. 93a, by Johannes Brahms;
-- Selections from "Five English Folksongs" by Ralph Vaughan Williams; and
-- a group of three Latin American pieces by Astor Piazzolla, Atahualpa Yupanqui and Joan Manuel Serrat.

Student soloists on the concert will be Amanda Hyberger, Anna McQuere, Sarah Hinds and Cesar Perez.

The School of Music is part of the Division of Performing Arts in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
