UI Advises Of Possible Travel Delays

The University of Iowa Facilities Services Group (FSG) has announced that motorists should expect to encounter travel delays at the Burlington Street and Highway 6 rail crossings in Iowa City during April.

George Hollins, director, FSG Design and Construction Services, says that the CRANDIC Railway has informed the University of Iowa that trains ranging from 60 to 100 cars in length are being rerouted through Iowa City primarily between 4:30 and 8:30 p.m. for about the next 30 days. The rerouting was made necessary by a fire near Homestead Amana that destroyed a CRANDIC railroad bridge.
