Milsom named to editorial board of school counseling journal
Amy Milsom, an assistant professor in the University of Iowa College of
Education's Department of Counseling, Rehabilitation and Student Development,
has been invited to serve on the editorial board of Professional School Counseling,
a journal published by the American School Counselor Association.
Editorial board members review manuscripts submitted to the journal for
publication. During Milsom's three-year term she will be responsible for reviewing
about one manuscript a month and providing feedback to the editor. The journal,
which is sent is to 12,500 readers, covers the latest research, practice,
techniques and ideas to assist school counseling professionals.
Milsom said that serving as an editorial board member for a journal was
one of her professional goals.
"It will allow me to provide a service to my profession," she
said. "Reading and reviewing manuscripts will improve my own writing,
and I will be better able to advise students who are working on manuscripts
they hope to submit for publication."
Now in her second year at the UI, Milsom teaches and advises students in
the school counseling master's program and the counselor education Ph.D. program.
Milsom received masters' and doctoral degrees in counselor education from
Penn State University. She holds a school counselor certification and a national
certified counselor credential.
