Weekend Institute for Gifted Students seeks participants

The Belin-Blank Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development at the University of Iowa invites students in grades four through nine to participate in the Weekend Institute for Gifted Students (WINGS) this fall. The first session will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28.

WINGS is a series of three-hour classes held on selected Saturdays on the UI campus. The course content is both rigorous and challenging and is designed to stimulate the interest and curiosity of bright students in grades four through nine. There are no formal qualifications required to participate in WINGS; however, students should be highly motivated to attend and be prepared for fast-paced, challenging work.

The cost is $40 per class. This fee covers the cost of instruction and all materials. Financial aid is available to those participating in the free-or-reduced lunch program at their school and will cover one-half of the cost ($20 per class).

If you have questions, please call the Belin-Blank Center at 800 336-6463. The WINGS brochure and application for fall 2002 is available online at
