UI Career Center sponsors Careers Day Sept. 26

Representatives from approximately 100 companies and organizations will be on campus Thursday, Sept. 26 to meet with students at the University of Iowa's 26th annual Careers Day, from noon to 5 p.m. in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union (IMU).

Careers Day is designed to provide information and potential job contacts for students in the Henry B. Tippie College of Business and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, but all UI students are welcome to attend.

Several top employers from Iowa and across the U.S. will be represented at Careers Day. Students can talk with representatives from national employers such as Kraft, American Express Financial Advisors, Deloitte&Touche, and Archer Daniels Midland. Several Iowa-based companies including Pella Corporation, Principal Financial Group and Maytag will be at the Careers Day.

In addition to the diverse group of companies that will be represented at Careers Day, there will also be representatives from non-profit organizations, state and federal governmental agencies, law enforcement, and the U.S. armed services.

"In today's competitive job market, Careers Day is a great way for students to get a head start on seeking employment after graduation," said Jerry Paschal, executive director of the UI Career Center.

All attending companies are listed on the Career Center web site at: The site also includes a list of the majors sought by companies, and has direct links to most employers' web sites, where students can research company information and available positions.

Students can prepare for Careers Day at a workshop, "Career Day Tips," Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 10:30 a.m. in 315 Phillips Hall.
