KHAK-FM to broadcast annual radiothon to support Children's Miracle Network
The Brain and The Bear of KHAK-FM will host their 6th annual radiothon to
support the Children's Miracle Network Sept. 17-20, in the Main Lobby of University
of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Proceeds from the event will benefit patients of the Children's Hospital
of Iowa at UI Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City and its outreach clinics.
One hundred percent of all donations to the radiothon remain in the local
region to benefit critically ill and injured children. More than 100,000 children
receive care at the Children's Hospital of Iowa each year. Last year, KHAK-FM
raised $146,390 during the 100-hour event.
"Our listeners have big hearts," The Brain said. "They really
support Children's Hospital of Iowa, and I know they will be even more supportive
"This radiothon is always an incredible experience for us. It's difficult
to describe how moved we are by the stories that the kids and their families
share with us," The Bear added.
The event kicks off at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17 and concludes at noon Friday,
Aug. 20. The Brain and The Bear will share the stories of former and current
patients of the Children's Hospital of Iowa, and the dedicated physicians,
nurses and other health care professionals who care for them.
