UI conference helps businesses retain diverse workforce
The University of Iowa and the Professional and Technical Diversity Network
will discuss ways that businesses can develop and maintain workforce diversity
in "Retention: Keeping Diversity in Iowa" at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday,
Sept. 17 in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union.
Admission is free and open to the public.
The evening includes a performance by Graffiti Theater, followed by a panel
discussion with several Iowa City/Cedar Rapids-area business leaders. Joe
Drahozal, vice president of workforce initiatives with Priority One, will
discuss the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Multi-Cultural Resource Guide; Jorge Rivera,
initiatives manager with Procter & Gamble, will discuss surviving and
thriving in Iowa with a family; and Charlotte Westerhaus, assistant to the
president and director of affirmative action at the University of Iowa, will
discuss organizational responsibilities in retaining employees.
The Professional and Technical Diversity Network is a partnership between
employers, the community and professional organizations with a shared commitment
to attract, develop and retain diverse professional and technical specialists.
Membership is open to anyone who is interested in belonging to PTDN.
