UI math department holds annual minority student picnic Sept. 8
The University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences department of
mathematics will hold its second annual minority graduate and professional
students picnic from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002 at Shelter 6, City Park,
The picnic, featuring free food, games and prizes, is co-sponsored by the
department, the Black Graduate and Professional Students (BGAPS), the Black
Student Union, and other minority organizations. The free, public event is
a student social event, as well as a celebration of the department's success
in achieving a diverse and inclusive graduate student community which, with
an enrollment consisting of about 25 percent U.S. minority students, is one
of the most diverse in the country.
