Women's Resource and Action Center offers new discussion groups

The Women’s Resource and Action Center at the University of Iowa has a variety of new discussion groups slated to begin in November. All meetings will be held at the center, 130 N. Madison St. (across from the Iowa Memorial Union), unless otherwise noted. Group participation is free; however, a $10 donation is suggested. Pre-registration is required for some groups. To register, or for more information about any of the groups, call the center at (319) 335-1486.

Being Arabic in a Post 9/11 World -- This group will provide a safe space to have open, honest discussions about personal and societal issues related to being Arabic following the events of Sept. 11, 2001. The group will meet on Sundays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. beginning Nov. 17.

Writing Your Life Group -- Participants will express struggles and triumphs through fiction, poetry and journaling. The group will meet Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m. beginning Nov. 6.

Ending Isolation: A Support Group for Female Graduate Students -- Will meet on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The next meeting will be held Oct. 30.

Fatherless Daughters Group—A six-week support group designed for women who have lost their fathers due to death, divorce, chronic illness, estrangement or any other reason. The group will meet on Tuesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m., beginning Nov. 5.
