Attorney general candidates to debate at UI College of Law student group forum

Iowa Attorney General candidates Tom Miller, Dave Millage and Ed Noyes will meet in a debate sponsored by two UI College of Law student groups on Monday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. in the Levitt Auditorium in the Boyd Law Building.

The public is invited to attend the debate, sponsored by the Iowa Student Bar Association and the Federalist Society. A panel of local media representatives will ask questions of the candidates, and UI law professor Stephanos Bibas will moderate.

“It’s often difficult for candidates for offices like attorney general to find forums for debate, so we’re pleased to give them this opportunity,” said Brent Walters, president of the ISBA. “These candidates have distinctive views on the issues, and this will provide the public the opportunity to hear those views.”

Miller, a Democrat, is the incumbent attorney general. Millage is the Republican nominee, and Noyes is the Libertarian Party nominee.

The debate is sponsored solely by the ISBA and the Federalist Society, two groups composed entirely of students in the College of Law.
