The Women in Business and Graduate Women in Business organizations in the Henry B. Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa invite the local community to attend a conference on women and leadership on Saturday, Oct. 26, on the UI campus.

"Living the Life of a Leader: A Work in Progress," sponsored by Union Pacific Corp., will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Room W401, the MidAmerican Energy Colloquium of the John Pappajohn Business Building (PBB). The conference will begin with a continental breakfast and welcome from UI Interim President Willard "Sandy" Boyd and his wife Susan Boyd.

A kick-off speech by Mollie W. Marti, president of Performance Sciences, a human performance consulting firm, will be followed by presentation sessions on a variety topics by women professionals. Participants can register to attend two of the following:

-- "Taking the Entrepreneurship Leap" with Iowa City entrepreneurs Niki Neem of RSVP, Tara Cronbaugh of the Java House, Connie Champion of Catherine's, and Barbara van der Woude of Bostick Guest House.

-- "The Right Career Path for You" with Becky Olejniczak, a human resources specialist at Kimberly-Clark Corp.

-- "The Whole Leader – Financial, Physical, Emotional Health" with Beth Whited, assistant vice president of business planning at Union Pacific.

Seifert, who was recently ranked 38th on the list of "50 Most Powerful Women in Business" by Fortune magazine, will also present the keynote address at the luncheon following the sessions in Room W401 PBB, the MidAmerican Energy Colloquium.

"Some leaders emerge from a need to share life experiences, and others gain wisdom through their leadership," says Anne Frye, president of Women in Business. "We invite leaders in our community to share their wisdom and provide us with new tools to embark on our leadership journey."

Registration forms are available in the Undergraduate Program Office in Room W160 PBB. The registration fee is $10 and is due Oct. 18. The conference agenda and registration form are available at: For more information, contact Anne Frye at (319) 351-9595 and
