UI Health Care nursing specialist named regional director

The American Society of Plastic Surgical Nurses (ASPSN) recently named a University of Iowa Health Care nursing specialist as its Midwest Regional Director.

Claudette J. Heddens, an advanced registered nurse practitioner, serves as a nurse coordinator in the Plastic Surgery Section at UI Hospitals and Clinics. She will assume her new duties in 2003.

"I'm honored to have this opportunity to give back to our nursing specialty," Heddens said. "I'm really excited making a contribution to plastic surgery nursing."

Heddens previously served as Regional Chapters Coordinator for ASPSN.

ASPSN formed in 1975. Its membership now includes more than 1,700 plastic and reconstructive surgical nurses. The organization serves its members through a national structure of four regions and a network of local chapters in the United States and Canada.
