CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF IOWA MASCOT TO DEBUT AT 'MIRACLE
"Perky," the new mascot of Children's Hospital of Iowa, will meet
the public for the first time during halftime of the Miracle Game on Wednesday,
Nov. 13, when the Iowa Hawkeyes men's basketball team takes on the EA Sports
Perky is the brainchild of the Youth Advisory Council of Children's Hospital
of Iowa. The council is comprised of approximately 15 former Children's Hospital
of Iowa patients. The group provides valuable input to Children's Hospital
of Iowa administrators, and the council members originally suggested the mascot
idea. Perky will also appear at several other upcoming events at Children's

The Miracle Game will tip off at 7:05 p.m. in Carver Hawkeye Arena. One dollar
from every ticket sold will be donated to the Children's Miracle Network to
benefit patients at Children's Hospital of Iowa. To obtain tickets, call (319)

Iowa City is the state's longest-serving children's hospital. More than 100,000
children receive care at the Children's Hospital of Iowa and its statewide
network of outreach clinics each year.
Children's Miracle Network is the nation's largest charitable organization.
All of the funds raised in an area stay in that same area to benefit the local
children's hospital. Donations are used to enhance the quality of patients'
hospital stays, support research and purchase the sophisticated pediatric
health care equipment necessary to care for critically ill and injured children
at Children's Hospital of Iowa.
