UI pharmacy students win scholarships
(Student name) of (hometown), a student in the University of Iowa College
of Pharmacy, has been named the winner of (scholarship name).
The College of Pharmacy awarded 89 scholarships for the 2002-2003 academic
year. Scholarships are based on various criteria and determined by the College
of Pharmacy Scholarships and Awards Committee.

DESCRIPTIONS OF AWARDS
Albertsons-Osco Scholarship recipients must have a "C" average
or higher, employed in a community pharmacy setting, reside in either the
state where the pharmacy school is located or in an adjacent state and be
in one of the last three years of pharmacy school.
Melissa Arbogast Scholarship recipients must have completed one full
year of pharmacy school, have a grade point average of 3.0 or above, and indicate
a very strong desire to pursue a career in pharmacy.
The Seymour Blaug Scholarship is named for Dr. Blaug, who received
his UI degree in 1955 and went on to become a teacher at the College. Recipients
of this award must be in good academic standing.
Ilse O. Buckner Scholarship recipients must be academically qualified
and able to demonstrate financial need.
Burroughs Wellcome Co. Scholarship recipients must demonstrate academic
excellence, and be an active participant in extracurricular activities.
Vernon Conzemius Scholarships are awarded to students whose academic
records place them in the upper half of their class.
Ben M. Cooper Memorial Scholarship recipients must have good academic
standing and come from Scott County.
CVS Scholarship recipients must be in good academic standing and interested
in pursuing a community pharmacy practice career.
The Max Eggleston Scholarship is awarded for good academic standing.
C.E. Greger Award Scholarship recipients must show professional attitude.
The Lori A. Grimes Memorial Scholarship requires that a student must
be in good academic standing and demonstrate interest in pursuing a career
in pharmacy practice.
The Hartig Scholarship is awarded to students in good academic standing
and in one of their last 3 years of pharmacy school. This is the first year
it has been awarded.
Thomas D. Hill Scholarship recipients must be in good academic standing.
Frances T. & Charles Holub Memorial Scholarship recipients must
have maintained a satisfactory academic grade point average for at least the
first two years of college.
Iowa Pharmacy Auxiliary Scholarship criteria include good academic
standing and residency in Iowa
Iowa Pharmacy Foundation Scholarship recipients must be in good academic
standing with preference given to members of ASP (Academy of Students of Pharmacy)
and intend to locate within the state after graduation.
Ernest Kyle Memorial Award criteria include good academic standing
and a demonstration of superior achievement in the medicinal chemistry sequence.
Rudolph Kuever Scholarship recipients must be in good academic standing
and must be a resident of Iowa.
Longs Scholarship recipients must be in good academic standing.
Ronald P. Madden Scholarship recipients must be an Iowa high school
graduate who graduates with a 3.0 or better Grade Point Average.
Charles J. Malecek Award recipients must be in good academic standing.
The Carleton R. Mikkelsen Scholarship is awarded to the student who
achieved the highest overall grade point average after completion of their
third year of pharmacy school.
Miller-Ruegnitz Scholarship recipients must be in good academic standing.
NACDS (National Association of Chain Drug Stores) Scholarship recipients
must be in good academic standing and demonstrate a strong interest in community
pharmacy practice.
The Gus Scherling Award is given to students who are among the top
three students who academically ranked in the Medicinal Chemistry and Natural
Products I class.
The Sheffield Family Scholarship recipients must be residents of Iowa,
be in good academic standing and exhibit leadership/service to the University
or community.
The Shopko Scholarship Award is given to a past or present Pharmacy
Intern in Shopko's Pharmacy Program.
The Shutt Pharmacy Scholarship Fund Award is given to students who
are in good academic standing.
The H. Curtis Snyder Scholarship Award is given to a student considering
a career as a sales representative for a pharmaceutical company or a career
in community pharmacy.
The John S. Thor Memorial Award is given to students who are in good
academic standing.
The Wahl-Teeters Scholarship Award is given to students who are U.S.
citizens and are in good academic standing.
The Wal-Mart Pharmacy Scholarship Award is given to a student with
high academic standing, excellent leadership qualities, and has an interest
in community pharmacy.
The Walgreens Student Scholarship Award is given to students who are
in good academic standing, demonstrate outstanding leadership and communication
skills and have an interest in the community pharmacy practice.
The Zopf Memorial Award is given to students who are in good academic
standing.
The John D. & Bets Zuehlke Scholarship Award is given to an Ottumwa-area
resident who is in good academic standing.
