UI neurosurgeon named president-elect of international organization
Congress of Neurological Surgeons recently named a University of Iowa Health
Care neurosurgeon as the organization's president-elect.
Vincent C. Traynelis, M.D., professor in the UI department of neurosurgery,
has already served a term as vice president of the group. Following completion
of his term as president-elect, he will assume the post of president.
Traynelis attended medical school at West Virginia University in Morgantown,
followed by residencies in surgery and neurosurgery at West Virginia University
Hospital. Traynelis is board-certified in neurological surgery, with clinical
expertise in surgery and neurosurgery.
The Congress of Neurological Surgeons was founded in 1951. Its membership
has grown to include more than 5,000 neurosurgeons worldwide. Members are
dedicated to promoting the public welfare through the advancement of neurosurgery
by a commitment to excellence in education and through a dedication to research
and scientific knowledge.
