Regents to hear presentation on Old Capitol restoration plans

Architects and University of Iowa officials will present detailed plans for the restoration of the Old Capitol at the Thursday, May 16 meeting here of the Board of Regents, State of Iowa.

Bradd Brown of OPN Architects, Inc, Cedar Rapids and representatives of the Boston architectural firm Einhorn Yaffee Prescott will present their plans for the restoration of the Old Capitol’s wooden dome and bell tower, which was destroyed by fire in November 2001, and repair of related fire and water damage to other parts of the building. The presentation also will include plans to renovate and restore other parts of the building, including the roof, and to make a number of other improvements to the building, including a new fire suppression system.

OPN Architects and Einhorn Yaffee Prescott were selected as project architects by the Regents earlier.
