UI College of Dentistry adjunct faculty receive awards

Two University of Iowa College of Dentistry adjunct professors have received awards for their service and teaching.

Mark Marz, D.D.S., adjunct associate professor in the UI Department of Family Dentistry, was awarded membership into the Mu Chapter of Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU), a local chapter of the nationally recognized dental honorary society, at its annual banquet June 6. Selection to this honorary society is based on distinguished service to the profession and scholarly activities. Marz graduated from the UI College of Dentistry in 1978. He has been involved in dental education for 21 years, serving as an adjunct faculty in the prosthodontic pre-clinical labs and as a clinical instructor. He has his own practice in Amana.

At the annual Apollonian Frolic, the end-of-the-year student banquet for UI dental students, instructor of the year awards are presented by the senior dental students to an adjunct instructor. Richard Sankey, D.D.S., adjunct associate professor in the college, received special recognition for teaching for the fourth time by being named the Class of 2002 Adjunct Instructor of the Year. Sankey graduated from the college in 1971 and has been an adjunct instructor since 1974. He has his own practice in Mount Pleasant.
