Blood centers , sorority alumnae co-host community-wide
The DeGowin Blood Center, Mississippi Valley Regional
Blood Centers, and the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma
Theta sorority will co-host a community-wide blood drive Thursday, Jan. 24
from noon to 5 p.m. in the Main Ballroom of the Iowa Memorial Union.
The blood drive coincides with Martin Luther King,
Jr. Human Rights Week events at the UI (Jan. 16-26). Giving blood is "essentially
an act of generosity [toward] your fellow man, regardless of race or gender
and sends the message that you care about the community," said Mitch Overton
of the DeGowin Blood Center.
Questions about the blood donation process can be
directed to the DeGowin Blood Center
at (319) 356-2058.
