KSUI adds 'Schickele Mix' on Sunday evenings

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The popular classical music program "Schickele Mix" has joined the Sunday evening line-up on KSUI 91.7 FM, the University of Iowa's public radio station.

The hour-long, weekly, nationally syndicated program hosted by Peter Schickele is broadcast at 6 p.m. Sundays on KSUI. It uses classical music as a starting point, but then transcends into freeform associations that inform, entertain and illustrate a particular musical concept or theme.

Schickele, recognized for the "discovery" of P.D.Q. Bach, is a composer, humorist and author with an impressive range of musical skills. As an entertainer, Schickele is a satirist who sports a colorful on-stage presence and an array of musical styles. He is renowned for the composition of works that run the musical gamut from chamber music to comedy recordings. Schickele has earned four Grammy awards; has released 11 albums; and has published 11 editions of "The Definitive Biography of P.D.Q. Bach."

A native of Ames, Iowa, Schickele tours with a program of original songs. He now resides in New York City with wife, poet Susan Sindall.
