'Live from Prairie Lights' broadcasts on WSUI set for Feb. 18-20

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Upcoming "Live from Prairie Lights" readings broadcast on WSUI-AM 910 will feature Ruth Irene Garrett and Mike Magnuson.

Hosted by Julie Englander, "Live from Prairie Lights" is aired on WSUI, the University of Iowa public radio station. The readings begin at 8 p.m. and are free and open to the public at the Prairie Lights Bookstore at 15 S. Dubuque St. in downtown Iowa City. Upcoming events include:

Feb. 18: Ruth Irene Garrett, from Kalona, will read from "Crossing Over: One Woman's Exodus from Amish Life" in which she explores life growing up in the strict Old Order Amish.

Feb. 20: Working-class novelist Mike Magnuson, who teaches creative writing at Southern Illinois University, will read from his new memoir "Lummox: The Evolution of Man". This book is a memoir of a young man as he tries to figure out his place in the world during the Reagan years.
