Community Invited To UI Seminar On Heart Disease Feb. 18
Area residents are invited to hear a University of Iowa
Health Care expert discuss advances in the treatment of heart disease at 7
p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at the Clarion Conference Center in Coralville.
Theresa Brennan, M.D., UI assistant professor (clinical)
of internal medicine and a cardiologist with UI Heart Care, will present "How
Healthy Is Your Heart?" This free community program is part of the "Health
For Your Lifetime" series presented by UI Health Care.
This presentation will include discussion of:
-- Who's at risk for heart disease?
-- Preventing heart disease;
-- What are the risk factors?
-- The tools used in diagnosing heart disease;
-- Advances in how to treat heart disease.
The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer
Free, non-fasting cholesterol screenings will be offered
prior to the program from 6 to 7 p.m. on walk-in basis. No appointment is
required for the screening.
Brennan is board-certified in internal medicine and
cardiovascular disease. She has a special interest in coronary artery disease,
risk factors and coronary revascularization.
