UI Museum of Natural History wins award for computer station

The University of Iowa Museum of Natural History's interactive computer station CD-ROM, "Why Birds Sing," captured a first place award at the National Association for Interpretation Media Awards 2002 held Nov. 12-16 in Virginia Beach, Va.

Developed by Silver Oaks Communications of Moline, Ill. in collaboration with the UI Museum of Natural History staff and the Bird Hall Advisory Committee, the program is designed to teach visitors of all ages about various aspects of bird communication. The computer station is a favorite stop for visitors to the Museum's Hageboeck Hall of Birds and includes bird sounds, informative text, video clips, and games to test visitors' knowledge. The Museum of Natural History is located in Macbride Hall, at the corner of Clinton and Jefferson Streets.
