Sept. 11 memorial quilt raffle to benefit Children's Miracle Network
from the raffle of a specially made quilt honoring those who lost their lives
on Sept. 11, 2001 will be donated to the Children's Miracle Network to benefit
patients and their families at Children's Hospital of Iowa.
Dee Fischer of Milan, Ill. created the quilt in the memory of those who
died at the hands of terrorists in New York, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania.
Raffle tickets are available at a cost of $1 each, or six tickets for $5.
The quilt will remain on display at the Wal-Mart store in Moline until the
drawing takes place there at 6 p.m. Sept. 10.
Proceeds of the raffle will benefit patients of the Children's Hospital
of Iowa at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City and its outreach
clinics. One hundred percent of all donations to the Children's Miracle Network
remain in the local region to benefit critically ill and injured children.
More than 100,000 children receive care at Children's Hospital of Iowa each
year, including thousands from eastern Iowa and western Illinois.
Children's Miracle Network is an international nonprofit organization dedicated
to helping children by raising funds and awareness for 170 children's hospitals
throughout North America. Children's Miracle Network partners with 135 radio
stations and 200 television stations to help support critically ill and injured
children. Since it inception in 1983, Children's Miracle Network has raised
more than $2 billion for children's hospitals, including $229 million in 2001
