Orientation Begins for Incoming Law Students at University of Iowa

Orientation is underway for University of Iowa College of Law's Class of 2005.

The 246 students entering the law school this fall -- 226 in the J.D. program and 20 in the LL.M. program -- will spend the week of Aug. 19 getting to know the school's programs, its faculty, and their classmates in numerous workshops, sessions and panels.

Orientation began Aug. 19 with welcoming remarks from N. William Hines, dean of the College of Law; Linda McGuire, the college's dean of students; Justice Linda K. Neuman of the Iowa Supreme Court; and Kevin Collins, president-elect of the Iowa Bar Association.

Students will also attend sessions during the week about financial aid, handling stress, the law school's educational support and career services, and life as a law student. In addition, students will attend a weeklong class titled "Introduction to Law and Legal Reasoning."

Fall semester begins Tuesday, Aug. 27.
