B100 radiothon to support Children's Miracle Network is under way

The B100 99.7 FM radiothon to support the Children's Miracle Network will continue until noon Saturday, Aug. 17 at NorthPark Mall in Davenport.

Proceeds of the event will benefit patients of the Children's Hospital of Iowa at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City and its outreach clinics. One hundred percent of all donations to the radiothon remain in the local region to benefit critically ill and injured children. More than 100,000 children receive care at the Children's Hospital of Iowa each year, including thousands from eastern Iowa and western Illinois. Last year B100 99.7 FM raised $45,100 during the 100-hour event.

B100 99.7 personalities Julia Bradley and Jeff James are again serving as co-hosts for the radiothon.

"We are off to a great start," Bradley said. "Our listeners have big hearts, and this is a cause that they can really feel good about supporting."

"The radiothon actually goes by very quickly. Hearing the stories of these special kids and their families is really a very rewarding experience for us," added co-host James.

The event kicked off at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13 and will conclude at noon on Saturday. Bradley and James are sharing the stories of former and current patients of the Children's Hospital of Iowa and the dedicated physicians, nurses and other health care professionals who care for them.

Children's Miracle Network is an international non-profit organization dedicated to helping children by raising funds and awareness for 170 children's hospitals throughout North America.
