UI nursing specialist named to board of oncology nursing society

An advanced practice nurse from the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa was recently elected to the board of directors of the Oncology Nursing Society.

Linda Abbott will serve a three-year term on the board. The Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) formed in 1974, is dedicated to promoting excellence in oncology nursing and quality cancer care. ONS membership totals approximately 30,000 registered nurses and other health care professionals across the United States.

Abbott joined the staff of Nursing Services and Patient Care at UI Hospitals and Clinics in 1980.

The Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center is Iowa's only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center. NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers are recognized as the leaders in developing new approaches to cancer prevention and cancer care, conducting leading edge research and educating the public about cancer.
