Awards presented at MBA Spring Honors Banquet
Students, faculty, staff and an alumni mentor were honored at the Henry
B. Tippie School of Management Spring Honors Banquet. Second-year MBA student
Yana Adamichina received two of the evening's top honors at the April 12 event.
In addition to being named MBA Student of the Year by her peers, Adamichina,
along with fellow second-year student Donald Schmidt, was presented with an
MBA IMPACT Award. This award recognizes graduating students who exemplify
the attributes of the core values of the MBA program known as IMPACT (Involvement,
Motivation, Professionalism, Achievement, Challenge and Teamwork) during their
tenure in the program. Faculty and staff of the Tippie College of Business
During the ceremony, students nominated for the IMPACT Award were also recognized.
They include Jennifer Brophy, Joy Donald, Jodi Eineichner, Michelle Finley,
Allen Goody, Bart Hendryx, Joontak Lee, Bin Liang, Shankar Radhakrishnan and
Nicole Pfeiffer received the Wall Street Journal Award, which recognizes
a first-year student who has excelled in the classroom and been active in
MBA activities. First-year core faculty select the recipient of this award.
Roy Suddaby, assistant professor of management and organizations, received
the MBA Core Faculty Member of the Year award. Baba Shiv, assistant professor
of marketing, was selected as this year's MBA Elective Faculty Member of the
Year. The Tippie School of Management Staff Member of the Year award was given
to Jeff Emrich, director of student services in the Tippie School.
A new honor initiated this year was the MBA Alumni Mentor Award, given to
Sean Davison, a 1998 MBA graduate and manager of credit operations at John
Deere Credit in Madison, Wisc. UI MBA students, faculty and staff selected
Davidson to receive this award based on his outstanding efforts in mentoring
current MBA students, hiring interns, recruiting prospective MBA students,
and serving on the Tippie School's Advisory Council. The Tippie School created
an alumni mentor program this past year for alumni to provide advice and encouragement
to existing students.
