Illustrator leads walk at Palisades-Kepler State Park
In conjunction with the May release of "Woodland
in Your Pocket: A Guide to Common Woodland Plants of the Midwest," illustrator
Mark Müller will host a walk in the Palisades Kepler-State Park on Saturday,
May 4 at 2 p.m. "Woodland in Your Pocket" (University of Iowa Press)
features color drawings showcasing 59 native Midwestern woodland species,
providing their common and scientific names, blooming dates, and heights in
one user-friendly laminated fold-out guide. Walkers should meet at the1st
Shelter (located in Linn County off Highway 30, 12 miles east of Cedar Rapids
and 4 miles west of Mt. Vernon).
Copies of "Woodland in Your Pocket" will be available for $9.95
at the walk on May 4, at local bookstores, or by calling 800-621-2736.
Müller has sketched and photographed the natural world from Alaska
to Antarctica. He is currently a free-lance illustrator living on a farmstead
near Iowa City. His work includes "Prairie in Your Pocket: A Guide to
Plants of the Tallgrass Prairie" (Iowa, 2000), "An Illustrated Guide
to Iowa Prairie Plants" (Iowa, 1999), co-authored with Paul Christiansen,
and numerous posters and pamphlets for the Iowa Department of Transportation.
