Carney Doebbeling earns award for research proposal
Caroline Carney Doebbeling, M.D., University of Iowa assistant professor
of psychiatry and internal medicine, was named the American Psychiatric Institute
for Research and Education's Health Services Research Scholar for 2002.
The award, given to a junior faculty member, will be presented at the American
Psychiatric Association (APA) meeting May 18-23 in Philadelphia. Carney Doebbeling's
research proposal that earned her the award focuses on evaluating the delivery
of cardiac services to psychiatric patients. She will present the findings
of the proposed research at the 2003 APA meeting.
Carney Doebbeling directs the internal medicine and psychiatry combined
residency training program at the UI. Her research interests include relationships
between psychiatric and medical illnesses, and evaluation of medical services
by patients with mental disorders.
