Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at UI to host symposium Oct. 5

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa is sponsoring a symposium for health care professionals who work with patients and families affected by cancer. The daylong event will be Friday, Oct. 5 at UI Hospitals and Clinics.

"Psychosocial Oncology 2001" is an interdisciplinary conference that will examine issues relevant to cancer care specialists. The agenda includes discussions of the integration of palliative care into the hospital setting, ethical and legal issues in cancer care, complementary and alternative medicine, psychosocial interventions to assist in coping with adverse developments, and psychosocial issues of suffering and loss pertaining to professional oncology practice.

The symposium will run from 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. in the East Room on the 8th level of the John Colloton Pavilion at UI Hospitals and Clinics. The registration fee for the conference is $50. For more information, contact Joy Sutter in the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at (319)
