Fall Thieves' Market runs Sept. 15-16

Paintings, ceramics, photography and other original artwork will be on sale this weekend during the annual Fall Thieves' Market in the University of Iowa's Iowa Memorial Union.

The market will run from 12 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16 in the IMU's Main Lounge. Admission is free and open to the public.

Each year hundreds of artists from across the Midwest and beyond compete to exhibit and sell their work at the national renowned Thieves' Market. This year, more than 70 artists will display their handiwork, which includes woodworking, drawings, jewelry and other original creations.

One piece, called the "Patron Prize," will be selected and given away Sunday afternoon. No purchase or fee is necessary to win the prize.

The Thieves' Markets are coordinated and sponsored by the University of Iowa Fine Arts Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the arts at the UI.
